My cousions, '88 Camry DX, four cyl., auto got broken into last
night. They were trying to get to her radio. They also got the
trunk open it works some times but pops open from time to time now.
They could not get the radio out so they got mad and messed up the
face of it. They entered through the pass. side door by taking a
large prying device and working the lock assembly around in te door
until all the linkages came loose. The hole around the key tumbler
on the pass.side is now about 1/4 inch larger all the way around and
the manual locking buton no longer moves or locks the door. The
power door locks also don't work on any of the other doors but you
can lock them with the manual button. I need to know how I can get
the lock fixed on the pass. Hopefully with out a NEW DOOR!! and how
to get the power locks working again. Also what should I look to do
about the randomly popping open trunk?? Thanks group, they realy
scared her on this one.

Sorry for what happened to you and your poor car.
Conside the current price of 1988 Camry DX, I would recommend you
don't fix it. Maybe the repairing fee is more expensive than your car
price now.
Trust me! I know the feeling you got now. I just got my 1989
Camry LE stolen and returned. Who is the stupid stealing an old car?
It had been hit on the left rear corner and the lamps gone. I only
spent 50 dollars to replace a new lamp assembly. And leave the ugly
hole there. Fortunately my car is drivable, with some smoking now.
It's perfect before it got stolen. I did maintain it my self. I would
have kill the thief if I known who did it.
If you can buy a used door from a junk yard (about 300-500) and
you know how to replace a door. It will be good. I don't think you
can just replace the lock assembly, probably the lock position is
twisted and you said a big hole over there.
I recommend you seal the door by welding or screws. It's sad, but
I will do that if I were you.
About the trunk lock, did you try lubricate the lock?
