I'm new to this site and forum. Just bought an 08 Camry LE V6. After about 200 miles and driving on the freeway, I suddenly noticed a bad bouncing and vibration from the right rear. Pulled off the freeway thinking it was a tire going flat but tire looked ok. It felt like the wheel maybe lost a weight and became out of balance since it was worse around 70-74 mph. Over the next 100 miles (had to drive it to LA), it felt more like a strut problem. Taking it to dealership in morning. Anyone experiening similar problems with a new Camry? It came with Michelin tires. Problem seems to be the right rear.

Update - took car to dealer this morning. They drove it on freeway and couldn't duplicate the problem. Said tire and wheel balance is fine per their balancing machine. We'll see what happens on the 200 mile drive home.

I have a New Camry SE V6 I also have a slight shimmie in the stearing not the rear I have the Michilin Pilots we should keep track of this since the pilots I have are $250+ per tire. I have heard some other complaints about this issue I will try and track them and post. I hit Toyota Nation's site every day Post under Jakster
Our highways in Northern New Mexico suck so I have to head to the city to find newer roads. |

QUOTE(Jake @ Nov 15 2007, 09:44 PM) I have a New Camry SE V6 I also have a slight shimmie in the stearing not the rear I have the Michilin Pilots we should keep track of this since the pilots I have are $250+ per tire. I hit Toyota Nation's site every day Post under Jakster Our highways in Northern New Mexico suck so I have to head to the city to find newer roads. I have an 07 V6 SE since August with same problem. I live in LA and notice that at around 73 -80 mph i get a shimmy in the steering. I took the car to America's tire and paid to have them balanced and that improved it only a little bit as I'm sure they were not balanced correctly. However I still have the problem but notice it on Freeways that have uneven cement. On perfectly smooth freeways this problem seems to go away. So my guess is that the suspension (stiff in the SE) causes this feeling when driving on the freeway when the cement pads are somewhat uneven. If you notice, some of the freeways are cement and they are actually blocks - not continuous and they tend to be at different heights so as the car moves over them it gives you that slapping sound and at those speeds 73 and higher I notice instablility in the front wheels. I think the stiff suspension aggravates or causes this rather then absorbing the shock. Either way it is a poor design - don't know what to do about it. Any Ideas would be appreciated. |

I plan to put a Strut Brace on as soon as I can find a good one. I looked on ebay and found them from $50-200 and they all looked like junj and I am not willing to take a chance and go through all the return crap. I will wait for the TRD to come out it should be on the shelf soon for the 07-08 Camry. I found one that looks to be a fair piece but who can tell if you cant touch it first.
I have the shimmie in the steering at 60 MPH it seems to come and go. I am having a hard time getting my half working brain wrapped around the tire balance thing. If it was a tire issue wouldent it be everytime I got to 60 Yes it would. So I am left looking foward to a trip to my mother inlaws house crazy huh. But wait the highway up neer Grand Junction is a computer graded highway and is as smooth as a babys behind. I may get a better idea on that road. I can here her now another hot rod sports car. Is that a good thing for a guy your age its a little young for you isent it . Well yes it is. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) Also I don't think the TRD strut brace will mess with anything else since it is made by Toyota for the car. I have no Idea why it did not come stock on the SE and LE cars. |

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is a Camry problem or just a normal occurrence when purchasing aftermarket wheels and rims. I"ve bee noticing a lot of these threads lately as I have had the same problem with steering wheel vibration or road vibration over 70 mph.
My issue was also solved when I had all 4 of my tires replaced. |

Hello ...
I just purchased my 2008 LE V6 on December 15th! I purchased a Japanese built Camry, but could mean more or less. I have driven 1,000 miles and have not noticed any of the problems that people described on the forums or listed in the 2007 Toyota Service Bulletins. I have driven from San Diego to LA at all different speeds and shifting gears, and I am happy to say I have no problems. |

My Camry also having the same vibration and bouncing problem as described.
I sent the car to Toyota service center today but they can't find any problem with the car. I will make an appointment later next week and plan to have test drive together with the Toyota workshop personnel together. Coincidentally, my brother in-law's Camry also having the same problem. Really disappointed, this is my 3rd Camry and my previous two Camry do not have such problem. |

Hi:
Please refer to the steering wheel vibration issue on my 08 Camry SE v6. Dealer test drove it yesterday and could not dulicate the steering wheel vibration on a smooth concrete road, but did admit that he felt a vibration on a asphalt road. Dealer will discuss this issue with Toyota rep and see if he can put 4 new Michelins on instead of the Bridgestones. |

I bought an 08 camry (my first toyota). It has had this vibration problem since day 1. What kind of tires did you replace yours with. I already have Michelins, which they replaced 2 of, to no avail. I test drove an 08 with BF Goodrich which had an even worse vibration.

The dealer has not called me back to confirm that Toyota has authorized the tire replacements. Plan is to go with the Michelin's on the advice of the Toyota mechanical who test drove the car. Will keep you posted.
