I am in dilemna of getting my car serviced. I bought this 1998 toyota camry v6, in July 2002 and is running great. i have put on 14000 miles in 11 months, and now it is 67500 miles strong. Now as per the manual i have to get spark plugs replaced at 60K, which i did not. i just got the engine coolant replaced at 62500 and have been doing oil changes regularly. The firestone people have given me a quote of $250 for 60K mile service and inspection (including 6 valves for 23.99 and labor of 106.40 for valve replacement, and valves are 4301 platinum valves ????). The dealer would probably charge me around $450 for 60K service. What should I do? I do not see any problem right now with starting or engine, but I have always wanted to get my transmission checked because of some different feeling sometimes at highway (no noise or sounds, but different feel). Firestone is just going to replace transaxle fluid in this price. Do you guys know if dealer will really open the transmission to check it under regular 60K service. Don't know what to do so I have been delaying this decision of getting it checked. The previous owner got transmission fluid topped at 45K. So far i have driven 67500, and don't feel anything wrong, but as you know there is always a suspicion when buying a second hand car, though it was from a private party. Any comments, suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks
