Drove to a shop to buy a battery for my motorcycle and when I tried to back into a parking space the car would not go in reverse, even in neutral it would not go backwards. On the ride back home I switched from the power setting to normal gas saving setting. When I arrived home reverse was back. Later I'll change back to the power setting for the transmission to see if that's the problem. Anyone come up with this one before. The transmission was serviced at 75k, at least the dealer should have done that with the major tune-up I received at that time. I now have 80k miles on the car.
HENRY
94 xle v-6

I don't think the problem would be related to the ECT button. That button just switches the shift points in the ECU. When you say the dealer serviced the transmission, what did they do? The transmission in the V6 Camry is self-adjusting. So, I can't imagine what they could have done other than change the fluid. I would have someone take a look at it because I have never run into that problem with my Camry.

When I mentioned the dealer serviced the transmission I was referring to the fluids being changed. I'm going to do it myself for some peace of mine. I've heard of a few places that use a machine to actually flush the transmission has anyone had that service?
Henry
94 v-6

Yes. I had the Wynn Transmission flush service a short while ago and I definitely noticed an improvement in my shifting. If you just drain the transmission fluid, less than half of the fluid is changed because most of it sits idle. A flushing is a good idea if you are acquiring some miles on your Camry.
