I am new here and I just recently got a 2002 Toyota Camry LE car. It's been garaged and have low mileage.
The car will now be mostly outdoors. I like to get a car cover for it and I just wondering what kind do you recommend that I get online? I do NOT want a custom made car cover because I found out they have terrible resale value so I don't want to get that. I should know. Several years ago, i try to sell a custom made car cover for Honda Civic and I only sold it for $5. Thanks for any recommendations you can give to me. |

I suggest you look on ebay for a cover that will work. Maybe you can find someone like yourself who is dumping one they no longer need.

I have a couple of thoughts to share:
- my personal experience with car covers are that they are often more trouble than their worth. Trying to remove and store a rained-upon cover is a pain in the butt! Especially when you think that without the cover you can just get in the car and drive away. - if you're selection criteria includes the eventual resale value - you're merely setting yourself up for disappointment My recommendation would be to not get a cover. Spend that money on something else you'd like to get for the car. Perhaps a high quality buffer for keeping that paint nice and shiny! |

Tom, I agree. I once had a truck that wouldn't fit in the old garage due to it being to high. I bought a cover, albeit a cheap one, and used it maybe a dozen times. It was way too much trouble for a vehicle that got used frequently. I say either move or build a car port! lol.

I agree car covers are really more of a hassle than they really help. The one I had was a hassle to get on and off and than if it rained it was more of a bear. But, if you are looking for one try ebay maybe someone has one cheap you could get.

Even if your vehicle is garaged, a car cover will keep dust and fingerprints off it--and protect it from people walking or working in close proximity. I would recommend covercraft car cover...i've been using for years now..

QUOTE(toyotafanatic @ Jun 1 2007, 09:24 PM) Even if your vehicle is garaged, a car cover will keep dust and fingerprints off it--and protect it from people walking or working in close proximity. I would recommend covercraft car cover...i've been using for years now.. Someone brought my topic back to life again. Well, since I didn't get too many responses here and at another forum, I decided to get LeBra Car Cover that is grey/silver color. I had a smaller car cover that is silver in color. It works really well, but I can't find the exact same kind I got before. I have seen similar ones though. I have heard about Covercraft and Coverking but even the universal fit car cover, it's quite expensive. I better off just get a custom made one. Anyway, I should get my LeBra car cover soon and I see how well it works. Thanks for the suggestion though. :) |

I guess there are car cover people andnon cover people. I'm a non cover person. I agree with the others: It's more trouble than it's worth.

The main problem with covers is that they rub up against the car, messing up the paint. The only cover I would ever use is the inflatable ones, which are designed for collector cars indoors.

I guess it would make sense to have a cover for your car if it's mostly for show - I use my car to get me from A to B. I like it to look nice, but I feel like the car should serve me, not the other way around. I agree, do a good wax job, keep it clean and everything, but the car cover is too much trouble. ..
