My 2002 camry (132 K mile run) hit a rock in high way, which broken transmission and engine cradle and gas tank. The car being repaired in a shop, after repairing, the check engine light keeps on, the error code is P-0420, indicated a low efficiency of the catalytic converter function.
I am going to replaced the converter, but by checking the internet I found somebody said: if the dysfunction of converter is resulted from engine trouble, replacing a converter not solve it, soon the converter will be damaged again by the incompletely burned gas. My question is as my car’s engine cradle is broken by the rock, is it possible the power of the rock may also hurt the engine (may not significantly) then affect the engine function. If you have any idea or advice to the issue please let me know. I need make sure the engine works properly then consider replacing the converter. Thanks anybody for help! Ryan |
