Well guys I finally received my (yellow and
blue)gauges from MMR for my '93 V6 XLE yesterday morning and
had them in that night. Instead of having to shell
out $80 for installation me and a friend installed
them ourselves.

It took us about 2.5-3 hours to
do and it wasn't hard at all, just very time
consuming. For those of you not mechanically inclined though
I would not suggest doing this yourself, it gets
kinda tricky once you have to disconnect and
disassemble the cluster. They look very good and am pleased
with the quality. The only problem we had was fitting
the fuel and temp gauges...they have to be cut to fit
since those needles cannot be removed(I found out the
hard way).

When installing these two gauges DO
NOT try to remove the needles, they're permanent not
like the removable speedometer and rpm ones. Since we
did try to remove the temp gauge it will have to be
reset, however all the other gauges work perfect I'm
happy to say. The trick is to connect the cluster
without the plastic cover and without the needles. Once
that is done start the car so it idles then add the
needles(you must know where your car idles at to have the
correct setting). This procedure saved me the $70
recalibration fee. After that everything else is gravy. Put it
back together and you're set to enjoy your new
gauges.

Next item on the agenda are my slotted rotors and
Millen front fascia which should be here today. Oh yea,
I'll post pics of the guages soon and of everything
else once it's installed so everyone can see and judge
for themselves. If anyone has any questions feel free
to ask away, I'll try to help out as best I
can:)

SC

My sponsor, Hyper Racing ordered them from Power Stop in California. I paid $80
each without the pads.

SC

How difficult was it to remove the needles on the TACH and SPEEDO??? Do they
just pull off?? Or is there a screw holding them on?? Thanks.

It wasn't very difficult at all, just take your
time and do not force them off. It'll also help if you
have someone to help you that is "car
inclined".

No, there are no screws, they're just placed on to
the pins very snug which gives it that "permanent"
feel when you try to remove them. So because of this
tightness I suggest working with someone,it'll make the
whole procedure alot easier and cut down on
installation time. There are screws however holding the temp
and fuel gauges down.

What we did was this,
get 2 spoons(average size, soup spoons are to big and
round)and place the tip of the oval under the needles
directly across from each other(this will make sure there
is equal pressure coming from both sides). Each
person slowly lift upwards until the needle comes
off(this works for both needles). Using one hand to lift
and the other to hold the cluster down.

This
may sound a little strange but it even suggests this
technique with the directions from MMR themselves. Once you
do it though you won't believe how it easy it is,
especially working with another person. I say it easily cut
my time in half.

NOTE:once the needles are
removed the faces are glued down with epoxy or silicone
to keep them in place so be very careful removing
them. My friend used a knife to cut them free while I
slowly lifted the face.

Once everything is all
done though I think you to will be please with look of
your new gauges...I know I am:)
