My question is thus, what would be the ramifications of having a reconditioned v6 put into my 1990 camry alltrac? what else would i need to replace? would it be worth the cost?
I love this car, and it's only problem is the lack of power. Any suggestions as to how to get more power without a complete engine replacement?

Have you looked into an ECU upgrade, some NGK plugs and some Nology hot wires along with maybe an air intake they all should add some power.

isn't the quickest engine power upgrade a NOS? it easily adds 50hp for 600 dollars.

yea, and it can also screw your engine over for $600. It's called lean burn out. Especially on an old engine with marginal piston seals. Too high cylinder pressures and we are talking rebuild. NOS is only for the strong-willed. I have seen a Geo Metro w/ NOS. When he shifted to second the cylinder head popped off. All we saw is him pushing the car back in Neutral. It was an easy way to get rid of that car.

-- Peter
