i have the same exact problem. same year and engine displacement. but mine is both of the front struts ( mainly the right one, big clanking noise!! ) i'm currently in the process of buying some tokico struts and i already purchased the H&R springs. i think i might have to buy the upper mounts too. but i'll find out when my boy and i change them. i had noticed in one issue of consumer car reports that the 97 model year recieved poor markings in the suspension and brakes. has anyone else run into these problems as i have?
