New transmission, your 4-banger transmission probably won't cut it, new ECU, new radiator, etc...probably can be done, but it's gonna be expensive.

"i'm pretty sure teh answer is no, but could i drop a new solara v-6 into my 1990 ? its FF so the tranny will match but how hard would this process be? "

No you can't just drop a 1MZ-FE V6 from the Camry and Solara into your 1990. There isnt enough room in that engine bay. As far as the tranny, your tranny is not compatible. You have to get the tranny designed for the 1MZ-FE. By the time you find an engine, tranny, axles, a new ECU, engine mounts, the various sensors and relays, and etc, you could have bought a brand new Solara SLE V6. It's not that easy. The idea seems simple, but theres alot more to it than just dropping it in.

BTW, the 1MZ-FE V6 is not a cheap motor. It probably costs as much or more than the value of a 1990 Camry.

its the car that matters, i like the car alot, its ugly and slow, but i know the new engin can be supercharged, and handle more nitros, are you sure it wont fit? its got a 2 litre now and there enough room for alot. i dont see why everything import costs so much, you can get 600 hp out of a chevy 350 for like 6 grand plus engin w/o nitros. i think its about tiem they make a import wiht atleast a 4 litre, and two turbo's

I know what i'm talking about and the 1MZ-FE V6 will not fit in your car. The chassis on your Camry is not designed to handle a different motor like the 1MZ-FE. If you were to buy all the components you need for a 1MZ-FE V6 swap, and add time and labor, you are looking at more than $15,000 for parts and labor alone. That's probably more than what your car was worth when it was brand new. Toyota parts arent cheap because they are better engineered than their american counterparts.

BTW, its nitrous not nitros. The 1MZ-FE V6 doesn't have nitrous. I think you are confused with the terminology. You are probably looking for the word "boost" in conjunction with the S/C.

It wasn't meant to go into a MKI MR2, but it did, with the Supercharger. someone at www.atlantamr2s.com did it, it took them a while to custom machine new mounts and everything...but with lots of time (and money) it can be done.

tan

well... not exactly.. NOS is metered in horse power but, it also depend on your setup ...cause you can shot 50 shot of instant power and another setup where you have the NOS shoot inside progressively... Turbo and S/C is measured in psi ( pounds per square inch) because thats how much they compress the intake charge air... Not how much horsepower...

But, basically to help you .. on the Turbo side ... in theory for every psi of boost you get between 7 to 10 horsepower ... depending on the efficiency of the turbo or s/c you are using...

No, RippSpeed didn't restate your sentence, he was just trying to clear up your confusion of words and terminology.

I don't mean to be rude but spell check would definitely help you the next time around.
