i have a 1997 camry and the front struts are rattling. a mechanic says the rubber liner at the top of the strut where it mounts has seperated and needs to be replaced. if you push up and down on the front end, you can see the rubber seperate and hear the rattle. my question is... is there a kit/mount that eliminates this rubber mount at the top of the strut because this piece will just wear out after x number of miles. on older cars (1991 accord) the strut is attached to the metal mount at the top of the strut, no rubber in between. thanks in advance

I'm not sure if we shared the same problem but i heard the same rattle on my 97 camry. besides my struts being shot at about 48000 miles i had to replace my front passenger strut mount. After putting the new strut mount with my new KYB GR-2's with H&R sport springs my car handles like a beauty. except while on my way home i hit a bump and then my front drivers side strut mount gave out. its a real annoying "pinging" sound that the strut piston makes with the strut mount. i had originally gone to pepboys to have them fix it but they fed me this crap that i needed new stabalizer pins that originally cost about 50 bucks a piece but then they said it was a "special order" from the dealer only and would cost 100 bucks a piece. i grab my keys and left. my boy put everything in for me for around 40 bucks! and no stabalizer pins. anyway, i'm still planning to fix that mount and add a strut tower bar. can anyone suggest a good tower bar that actually makes a difference you can feel? i hope this helped mark. just email me or post up any questions. Pedro
