Hey everyone I just wanted to share some pictures of my 97 camry. I just got it out of the shop with a lot of body modifications done to it. The chrome wheels will be gone in about three weeks and will be replaced with white or silver wheels. Enjoy the pics, thanks.

http://hometown.aol.com/mikeylr813/index.html

Actually Leslie, I believe that they do pass the law. The law states that you have to have red reflectors in your taillights and my entire trunck piece is still the stock red taillights, so I don't see why I similar setup won't pass on your car. It should work out fine. The only thing on my car is that since my car is blue, I put blue turn signals bulbs in the back. That's something I might get hassled for, but I've gotten lucky so far :)

Hey, nice car. How much time and money did that take, excluding the actual car?

I think that look pretty good, they match up to the lines of the car real good, as of quality I think that all depends on where you order them from because there are some companies out there that do not have high quality fiberglass parts. I got mine from a wholesale company out of california and they're built really strong. I think thet are worth it because it adds a flavor to the look of the car.

Well it wasn't really the money because although it take take a few dollars I got some pretty good deal on things. I don't even know how much money I spent, I stopped keeping track :) Now time on the other hand is what killed me. My friend owns a body shop and whenever we had any spare time we would work on the car. All of the shaving and molding, plus building that hood from scratch and the painting process with 6 coats of clear is what took all the time. I would say that it took about three months to do everything.

Yeah I am thinking about getting some of those fenders but since they are pretty new I didn't wanna be the guinea pig. They look real nice on ur car though. If you have any info on the company you bought them from I would love to look into buying from them. Being way out in kentucky there isn't too many good places to get camry parts.

SHOO!!!! I was gonna ask you where u got the hood but then I got the answer in ur later comment... so did u build the scoop on the stock or custom hood? and is it functional or for the look only? If it is functional... please let me know how it could have reached the air intake. I am trying to get a custom one that would actually be functional and improve the air flow to the intake/engine... and my guess is that it wouldn't look so symetrical and central like yours if it was built to be functional.
Nice ride...

Leslie,
Toyotrenz- Founder.

Thanks Leslie. Actually the scoop and the z3 vents are built into the stock hood. The scoop is functional, but not to the intake. It is functional in the sense that it helps the engine to breathe better. If you want something functional as for the ram air effect get the cold air intake from EL Prototypes, that's where I'm going to get mines from. With that I'll have my cold air intake effect while still helping the engine breathe better and cool down faster with the ram air scoop.

Brian

Cool, thanks for ur precise response about the hood... u r lucky u got one of a kind work on ur hood :-P
I wanted to paint a bit of my headlight to make eye lids since they don't make them for the Camry but have been afraid the lights would shine through at nite and not look professionally done. I have noticed u had some kind of eye lids... did u paint it? And if yes, how does it look with lights on at nite? Did u use the same paint as the rest of ur car body paint?

Thanks and good luck for ur project...

Leslie.

Thanks again Leslie, my friend owns a body shop and both of us worked on doing everything for the car together. It's good to know people in high places :) As for the eyelids, yes they are painted on. I think that they look really good for being painted. If your going to do it just make sure that the paint and clearcoat are applied well enough so that when you turn on the headlights light is not showing from the painted eyelid. That's when it starts to look cheesy when the light is still showing. As for visibility, the camry headlights come with a line on the headlights that is perfect for the eyelid. There is still plenty of room for perfect visibility at night without the eyelid affecting your vision. And yes it is the same color as my body, that's when it looks the best when the color blends in with the body. Some people use vinyl on thier headlights, and while it does give the eyelid look a lot of times the colors do not match the color of the car and it ends up looking relly messed up. Good luck on your project as well, if you ever have any other questions I'll always be glad to help. I'll also try to keep my pics updated, I should have some 18" white velox wheels with a updated suspension pretty soon. Take it easy.

Brian

Thanks... I have thought of vinyl since I got graphics on my car and they had the right color for my car but on the headlight, there was a bump sticking out so they couldn't really do it.
Now, with the the custom u did to ur back, does it pass the law?
I am getting my back customed also with clear tail lights but since the lights in the trunks aren't offered clear, I have to come up with something original that would pass the law...

Take care,
Leslie.
