I recently purchase a 1998 camry LE from a
small-time dealer. I found out after I bought the car that
it is leaking oil. It looks like it is between the
engine and the transmission, thouh I am not sure. The
dealer I bought it from told me that if it is the
rear-main seal it is covered by warranty, since the car has
less than 50,000miles. What kind of warranty is the 5
years 60000 miles deal. what my best

I recently had the same problem on my 96 Cam. The
rear main oil seal was bad. If it's covered by the
warranty...get it done. If not...look to spend about $700 to do
it. Also, while you have them replace that
seal...have them replace the front transmission seal too.
They should only tack on the price of the seal since
they have to drop the tranny to get to the rear engine
seal. If not...you will look to pay another $700 later
on to replace the tranny seal. Trust me on this one.
As far as your warranty goes...you'll have to go to
the dealer to find out if that would be covered. Read
the paperwork concerning your warranty too, that way
they don't try to dupe you.
