rims for a 91

i own a 1991 toyota camry with stock 14 inch rims. needless to say i have some major issues with them, i want bigger rims but i don't know what to do in order to install them, cause most aftermarket rims have widths of about 7 to 7.5 inches where as my toyota's rims are only 5.5 inches and i don't want my rims to stick too far out from the body of my car. and there is a problem with rims that are that wide is that they tend to rub the inside of my wheel well. i know this because i tried to but on a pair of 16 inch rims that were 6.5 inches wide and needless to say that is what happened. can anyone help me please? i so want to put some new rims on my car and i can't figure out how to do it the right way.

Well, you could just get some wheel spacers, which will make them stick out farther than they do now, but you can usually get at least 3/4" wheel spacer and make it look ok. And make sure that the offset is where you want it.
